The Station Building – queen size and single bed accommodation

When the Otago Central Railway, now the Otago Central Rail Trail, was closed, many of the station buildings were given away or sold off to begin new lives. Part of the Waipiata station building was transported up the road to Komako, or to give the property its historic name, Idylwild, to be used as an outbuilding. It's doubtful however that anyone at the time imagined its conversion to rather lovely three guest accommodation.

Grant and Heather have elected to keep the exterior untouched and weathered. But inside it's a story of total comfort and refurbishment. Both the queen size bed and single in The Station Building feature beautiful oak bedheads and tailboards. Other finishing touches include a day chair and walls hung with artwork.
