Komako Peonies & Cottage Garden AccommodationKomako Peonies and Cottage Garden at Waipiata alongside the Otago Central Rail Trail is much more than just a night's accommodation, it really is the place to stay. Here is where you can spend a few days relaxing and recharging energy levels, or make your escape from hemmed in urban living for a weekend away from the madding crowd in the wide-open spaces of the 'Big Sky' Maniototo Plains. Just one and a half hours from Dunedin, a little over two hours from Queenstown or Wanaka, right alongside the Otago Central Rail Trail and only five minutes stroll from Waipiata village and its friendly locals, Komako Peonies & Cottage Garden Accommodation is your opportunity live the Central Otago slogan... A World Of Difference. After all, it's not every day your choice of accommodation was once part of a railway station, or a former tool shed or even a section of bank building. Aside from accommodating you, hosts Heather and Grant offer evening meals as either a gourmet barbecue or hearty roast with a choice of salads and vegetables and a dessert to finish. There are also pub and restaurant meals close by at Waipiata and not so very far away at Ranfurly and Naseby. Right on the Rail Trail and pretty much on the 100km mark from the start-finish at Clyde, Komako also offers grazing for those doing the trail on horseback.
As part of the Komako experience, guests are encouraged to make themselves feel totally at home in the gardens and grounds, and to make full use of strategically placed outdoor tables and seating. A firm favourite with guests is the imaginatively built and decorated gazebo. Take along a book or magazine, sink into the comfortable chairs and under the heat of the Central Otago sun feel those worries and stresses simply evaporate away. When the evening is cool or you are keen to catch up on a favourite programme, Heather and Grant welcome you into their spacious lounge to enjoy television and conversation.
